This course is designed to provide participants with a practical review of common oral pathologic lesions encountered in everyday practice. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing abnormal findings, identifying lesions that warrant further evaluation, and understanding appropriate patient management.

Objectives: 

1. Identify common soft tissue and radiographic lesions encountered during routine clinical examination.
2. Recognize features that indicate the need for biopsy, referral, or additional evaluation.
3. Determine appropriate management strategies and prognosis for various common oral lesions.

This course will provide oral health care professionals with information regarding high-risk oral pathology diagnoses, including vesiculoerosive disorders, oral potentially malignant disorders, epithelial dysplasia, and oral cancer. Prevention and early recognition of these conditions is one of the most important, and often underappreciated, roles of the dental professional.

1. Identify clinical features of vesiculoerosive disorders, oral potentially malignant disorders, and oral cancer during routine examination.
2. Develop a differential diagnosis for ulcerative conditions.
3. Determine appropriate next steps in management when potentially malignant conditions are identified.

Radiolucent lesions can range from completely benign to urgently concerning, and recognizing the difference is essential for every clinician who interprets dental radiographs. This course sheds light on the most common, most challenging, and most commonly misdiagnosed radiolucencies encountered in everyday practice.

2. Apply a systematic approach to evaluating radiolucent findings on dental imaging using radiographic and clinical features to formulate a differential diagnosis.

This course is designed to provide oral health care professionals with a practical overview of common oral pathology findings encountered in pediatric patients. Through real clinical cases, a variety of entities ranging from developmental abnormalities to salivary gland lesions will be discussed, with an emphasis on commonly encountered conditions in everyday clinical practice.
